Our Primary Mandarin Enrichment course is designed not only to reinforce, but exceed the Ministry of Education's primary school requirements. Students will practice reading and writing skills as they develop their comprehension and written communication abilities. Moreover, students will have plenty of opportunities to practice their speaking and oral communication skills as they learn to describe scenes in Mandarin and practice conversations with their classmates.

Description :
This course is meant for students who are in Primary six. The min. size of each class is 3 students and max. about 6 students.
Each lesson’s duration is 2 hours. Students are encouraged to come half an hour before class starts so that unfinished work can be finished or for silent reading sessions.
Places in a class are limited, and a new class will commence only when at least 3 students have registered.

The main aim of this course is to equip the students with the necessary skills to answer the respective English paper effectively, with emphasis placed on composition writing skills. Students will learn:
to write good paragraphs by understanding the concept of using topic sentences
to give appropriate supporting statements for each topic sentence
the use of other writing converntions to enhance their overall writing performances
how an exercise on synthesis or transformational skills will enhance their writing
the differences between simple, compound and complex sentences so that when they write, they can use a variety of sentence structures
how to enhance their writing using colourful language
how to identify interesting verbs, adverbs and adjectives in literature
the use of interesting language to enhance their writing
to plan using mind mapping skills, listing and clustering

To supplement the writing lesson, other language activities are also included. Ample exercises to strengthen the students' weak areas will ensure that all students are prepared for the PSLE paper. They will have ample practice in editing skills, oral skills and answering cloze passages. In addition, they will be given exercises on comprehension and vocabulary. The approach is holistic and it is believed that such an approach will be beneficial for language learning. It is hoped that students finish their unfinished work at home before each lesson so that more can be achieved during the lesson time.
